Today I wanted to do another player profile. I was going back and forth with DeAndre Levy and Nate Burleson, they are probably my favorite players outside of the big 3.

DeAndre Levy: Filled in for Ernie Sims and the Lions were finally able to end a 19 game losing streak. Coincidence?

Nate Burleson: Follows me on twitter.

As I was debating the two, I started remembering other plays and something occurred to me. The Lions have a lot of dope players.

Jahvid Best: His 70+ yard TD reception against the eagles was inFUCKINGsane.

Corey Williams: Pro Bowl worthy player that is very important to the defense as a whole.

Cliff Avril: Cramping up from bare backing Sam (game manager) Bradford all game long.

KVB: Total relentlessness on every single play.

Sammie Lee Hill: Hell Yeah, a DT not named Redding or Darby.

Brandon Pettigrew: On the verge of being one of the best TE’s in the league, just gotta get over a few drops.

Tony Scheffler: A TE or WR that has come up big on a lot of 3rd down plays.

Will Heller: Not many catches, but a huge one against the Foreskins to help end the 19 game skid, and a TD against the pack last year.

Maurice Morris: Very steady RB.

Dominic Railoa: Never backs down against anyone.

Gosder Cherilus: Broke someones back in a college bar fight, eventually gonna break Peckerwood Allen’s back.

Rob Simms: First real LG we’ve had in forever.

Stefan Logan: Most underrated KR in football.

Lawrence Jackson: Should be starting somewhere.

Willie Young: Greatness. Loved by all, thanks to Neil at www.ArmchairdLinebacker.com.

Chris Houston: Great corner in my opinion.

Alphonso Smith: Doing the Carleton.

Amari Spivey: Used his telekinesis to take the ball from Greg Jennings.

Jason Hanson: Best kicker ever.

I’m not even talking about our new guys this year.

Stephen Tulloch.

Justin Durant.

Eric ‘Easy-E’ Wright.

Titus Young.

Nick Fairley.

Mikel Leshour.

Those guys(other than Nick and Mikel, yet) are already turning into fan favorites, that are damn good ‘real’ football players. Awesome.

Now if anyone was to tell me that anyone of those players were their favorite player, I would say ‘ya, I can see that’.’ What an awesome feeling! God, remember the dark days of Nimrod? There was Shaun Rogers, and then Calvin. They were the only players anybody could root for.

Sure, we would all hold out hope that whatever new rookies or free agents were coming in would be good, but it never took long to realize that they were crap.

The way things are now, our Coach, hell even our coordinators are as important to the fans as the players. That’s weird, I root for our coaches, because they are awesome and easy to root for.

One of the problems with being a good team, is that eventually you are going to lose good, popular players. That is going to be hard, and I’m not looking forward to it, but the ride there is going to be fun. GO LIONS!
